Connect and troubleshoot pairing issues between the VIVE Connect app and VIVE Eagle AI smart glasses. This article helps resolve the "Unable to pair VIVE Eagle" error on VIVE Eagle smart glasses and explains how to restore pairing mode when the device cannot connect.
If you receive an "Unable to pair VIVE Eagle" error while setting up your glasses, the issue is typically related to Bluetooth connectivity, existing pairing data, device state, or battery level. Follow the troubleshooting steps below in order.
Before troubleshooting
Make sure that:
- Bluetooth is enabled on your phone.
- The VIVE Connect app is installed and open on your phone.
- Your VIVE Eagle glasses are powered on.
- The glasses are in pairing mode and the status LED is flashing white.
Check the status LED
The status LED can help identify the cause of the pairing issue.
| Status LED behavior | Meaning |
| Fast continuous white blinking | Pairing mode |
| Continuous white blinking | Searching for a device |
| Two white blinks | Connected |
| Two red blinks | Failed to connect |
| Continuous red blinking | Failed to connect due to low battery |
If the LED indicates a failed connection or low battery, charge the glasses and try pairing again.
Pair the glasses again
- Open VIVE Connect on your phone.
- Tap Pair new.
- Accept the Terms and License Agreement and Privacy Policy.
- Tap Get started.
- Sign in to your HTC account.
- Grant the required VIVE Connect permissions.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete pairing.
Important: Starting a new pairing process automatically clears any data stored on the glasses. If the glasses were previously paired with another phone, import important media before pairing with a new device.
If you see "Clear existing pairing data"
If setup stops and asks you to clear existing pairing data:
- Remove the glasses if you are wearing them.
- Press the capture button on the right temple five times in quick succession.
- Wait for the LED sequence below to complete. The LED can take around 30 seconds to change from alternating white and pink to flashing white. Do not press any buttons while this is happening.
- Alternating white and pink flashes
- Pulsing white
- Flashing white
- Open your phone's Bluetooth settings.
- Find VIVE Eagle in the paired devices list and select Forget device.
- Close and reopen VIVE Connect.
- Start the setup process again.
Do not continue setup until the status LED is flashing white.
If the LED stays pulsing white
If the status LED remains pulsing white and never changes to flashing white pairing mode:
- Press and hold both the AI button and the capture button for approximately 12 seconds.
- Wait for the LED to change to pulsing red, indicating service mode.
- Press the capture button five times in quick succession.
- Wait for the following LED sequence:
- Flashing pink and white
- Pulsing white
- Flashing white
- Open your phone's Bluetooth settings.
- Remove VIVE Eagle from the list of paired devices.
- Open VIVE Connect and pair the glasses again.
Note: This recovery procedure only works on firmware version 1.13.999.3 or later. If the procedure does not work, contact customer support.
If VIVE Eagle does not appear in Bluetooth settings
If VIVE Connect asks you to open Bluetooth settings but VIVE Eagle does not appear:
- Restart your phone.
- Restart VIVE Eagle.
- Try the pairing process again.
If the issue continues after restarting both devices, follow the steps in the Clear existing pairing data section above.
Check for low battery
A low battery can prevent successful pairing.
If the status LED is continuously blinking red, the glasses were unable to connect because the battery level is too low. Charge VIVE Eagle and try pairing again after sufficient charging.
Still unable to pair?
Try the following:
- Enable Bluetooth on your phone
- Restart both devices
- Remove VIVE Eagle in Bluetooth settings
- Clear existing pairing data
- Confirm the LED is flashing white
If you have already done the above and the error still occurs, submit feedback through VIVE Connect or contact customer support for further assistance.
