Connect and troubleshoot Bluetooth connectivity between VIVE Eagle AI smart glasses and the VIVE Connect mobile app when the connection disconnects or drops unexpectedly.
If your VIVE Eagle disconnects from the VIVE Connect app unexpectedly, features that rely on the app connection may stop working until the connection is restored. This article helps you identify common causes and restore a stable connection between your VIVE Eagle smart glasses and your phone.
Symptoms
You may be experiencing this issue if:
- VIVE Eagle disconnects from VIVE Connect without warning.
- AI features stop responding even though the glasses are powered on.
- Media import does not start because the glasses are no longer connected.
- The connection repeatedly disconnects and reconnects.
Why the connection may drop
VIVE Eagle communicates with your phone through the VIVE Connect app and Bluetooth connectivity. The connection can be interrupted if:
- Bluetooth is turned off on your phone.
- The glasses move beyond your phone's Bluetooth range.
- The glasses are powered off.
- The VIVE Connect app is closed.
- The glasses have insufficient battery power to maintain a connection. The status LED may blink red continuously when connection attempts fail because of low battery.
Check the connection status LED
The status LED on VIVE Eagle can help identify connection-related issues:
| LED behavior | Meaning |
| Blinks twice white | Connected successfully |
| Blinks continuously white | Searching for a device |
| Blinks twice red | Failed to connect |
| Blinks continuously red | Failed to connect because of low battery |
Fix connection drops
1. Verify Bluetooth is enabled
Make sure Bluetooth is turned on in your phone settings. VIVE Eagle requires Bluetooth to connect with the VIVE Connect app.
2. Confirm the glasses are powered on
Turn on VIVE Eagle and wait for the status LED to begin flashing white before opening VIVE Connect.
3. Open VIVE Connect
Launch VIVE Connect on your phone. When Bluetooth is enabled and the glasses are already paired to your HTC account through VIVE Connect, the connection is established automatically.
4. Move the phone and glasses closer together
If the glasses move outside Bluetooth range, they disconnect automatically. Bring your phone closer to VIVE Eagle and wait for the connection to be restored.
5. Check the battery level
Low battery can prevent VIVE Eagle from maintaining a stable connection. Charge the glasses and try connecting again. If connection failures are related to battery level, the status LED may blink red continuously.
6. Restart VIVE Eagle
If the connection remains unstable:
- Press and hold the AI button for five seconds to turn off the glasses.
- Wait a few seconds.
- Press and hold the AI button for two seconds to turn the glasses back on.
You can also restart the glasses through VIVE Connect when they are connected.
7. Restart your phone
Restarting your phone can help resolve temporary Bluetooth or connectivity issues that may be preventing a stable connection. HTC specifically recommends restarting your phone when troubleshooting certain communication and connection-related issues.
If connection problems affect media import or updates
If your glasses appear connected but you cannot import media, submit feedback, or install updates, adjust the connection preference:
- Open VIVE Connect.
- Make sure VIVE Eagle is connected.
- Go to Settings > General > Advanced > Connection preference.
- Turn on Automatic band selection.
- If the issue continues, try manually selecting 5 GHz or 2.4 GHz based on your location.
Still having trouble?
If VIVE Eagle continues to disconnect after completing the steps above:
- Restart both your phone and the glasses.
- Verify that the glasses remain paired with VIVE Connect.
- Check for available firmware updates in VIVE Connect and install them if available.
- Submit feedback and diagnostic logs through VIVE Connect to help identify the cause of the issue.
