Learn how to troubleshoot caller name announcements on VIVE Eagle AI smart glasses and the VIVE Connect companion app when incoming callers are not announced through the glasses.
If VIVE Eagle does not announce the name of an incoming caller, the issue is usually related to contact permissions, call history permissions, or Bluetooth settings on your phone. Caller name announcements only work when the caller's information is saved in your phone contacts and the required permissions have been granted.
Before you begin
Check the following:
- Your VIVE Eagle glasses are connected to the VIVE Connect app.
- The incoming caller is saved in your phone's contacts. VIVE Eagle can only announce saved contact names.
- Bluetooth is enabled on your phone.
Android: Verify contact and call history permissions
Caller name announcements require access to your contacts and call history.
- Open your phone's Bluetooth settings.
- Find your VIVE Eagle glasses in the list of paired Bluetooth devices.
- Verify that VIVE Connect has permission to access:
- Contacts
- Call history
- Some Android phones show VIVE Eagle twice in the Bluetooth device list. If this occurs, enable the required permissions for both entries.
After updating the permissions, place a test call from a saved contact and check whether the caller name is announced.
iPhone: Verify Sync Contacts settings
On iPhone, caller announcements require Sync Contacts access.
- Open Settings on your iPhone.
- Tap Bluetooth.
- Find VIVE Eagle in the Bluetooth device list.
- Tap the information button next to the device.
- Make sure Sync Contacts is turned on.
- Verify that the relevant contact-sharing items are selected.
Once the settings have been updated, ask a saved contact to call you and confirm whether the announcement is heard through VIVE Eagle.
Make sure the caller is saved in your contacts
VIVE Eagle announces names only when the incoming phone number matches a contact stored on your phone. If the caller is not saved as a contact, the glasses may not be able to identify and announce the person's name.
Try the following:
- Save the phone number as a contact on your phone.
- Wait a moment for the contact information to sync.
- Place another test call from that contact.
Reconnect VIVE Eagle
If the permissions appear correct but announcements still do not work, reconnect the glasses.
- Turn on VIVE Eagle.
- Wait for the status LED to flash white.
- Open the VIVE Connect app.
- Allow the glasses to reconnect automatically.
After reconnecting, test incoming call announcements again.
Restart your devices
Temporary Bluetooth or permission synchronization issues may be resolved by restarting both devices.
- Restart VIVE Eagle.
- Restart your phone.
- Reconnect the glasses through VIVE Connect.
- Test with another incoming call.
If the issue continues
If caller name announcements still do not work after verifying permissions and reconnecting the glasses:
- Confirm that the caller is saved in your contacts.
- Recheck Bluetooth permissions for contacts and call history.
- Ensure VIVE Eagle is actively connected to VIVE Connect.
- Try removing and re-establishing the Bluetooth connection between the phone and VIVE Eagle.
