Learn how to access service mode and recovery options on VIVE Eagle AI smart glasses, including force restart, factory reset recovery, and troubleshooting startup and pairing issues.
If your VIVE Eagle is not responding, will not enter pairing mode, or cannot be restarted normally, you can use its built-in recovery options to restore normal operation. This article explains how to force restart the device, enter service mode, and perform recovery procedures when troubleshooting common startup and pairing problems.
Before you begin
Recovery procedures can help resolve issues such as:
- The glasses becoming unresponsive
- The status LED remaining in an unexpected state
- Pairing failures that persist after restarting
- Startup issues after charging
- Problems entering pairing mode during setup
Some recovery procedures perform a factory reset and erase data stored on the glasses. If possible, back up important content before proceeding.
Force restart VIVE Eagle
If VIVE Eagle is unresponsive, try a force restart before using more advanced recovery options.
- Press and hold the AI button for approximately 12 seconds.
- Release the button.
- Wait for the glasses to restart.
A force restart does not erase your data and is the recommended first troubleshooting step when the device stops responding.
Enter service mode
Service mode is an advanced recovery state that can help recover the glasses when they cannot enter pairing mode or cannot be restarted normally.
To enter service mode:
- Make sure the glasses are not being worn.
- Press and hold both the AI button and the capture button for approximately 12 seconds.
- Continue holding the buttons until the status LED begins pulsing red.
When the status LED is pulsing red, VIVE Eagle is in service mode.
Recover glasses that will not enter pairing mode
If the status LED remains pulsing white and does not change to flashing white for pairing, you can use service mode to reset the device and restore pairing functionality.
- Enter service mode.
- When the status LED is pulsing red, press the capture button five times in quick succession.
- Wait for the recovery process to complete.
During recovery, the status LED follows this sequence:
- Flashing pink and white
- Pulsing white
- Flashing white
When the status LED begins flashing white, the factory reset is complete and the glasses are ready for pairing.
Reconnect the glasses
After recovery:
- Open the Bluetooth settings on your phone.
- Find VIVE Eagle in the list of paired devices.
- Remove or forget the device.
- Open VIVE Connect.
- Pair VIVE Eagle again and complete setup.
Recover glasses that will not turn on
If the glasses will not start even after charging and the status LED is pulsing red:
- Remove the glasses if you are wearing them.
- Press and hold the AI button for approximately 12 seconds.
- Watch the status LED while holding the button.
If the status LED stops pulsing red, wait for the glasses to restart. The status LED should eventually pulse white.
If the status LED continues pulsing red:
- Release the AI button.
- Press the capture button five times in quick succession.
- Wait for the recovery process to complete.
This procedure performs a factory reset.
Factory reset from VIVE Connect
If the glasses are functioning normally but have a persistent problem, you can perform a factory reset using VIVE Connect.
Important: A factory reset removes all data stored on the glasses.
- Connect VIVE Eagle to VIVE Connect.
- Open the app settings.
- Go to Settings > General > Factory reset.
- Select Reset.
The glasses return to factory-default settings while retaining the most recently installed firmware version.
Status LED indicators during recovery
The status LED can help you identify recovery states:
| LED behavior | Meaning |
| Pulsing red | Service mode |
| Flashing pink and white | Factory reset in progress |
| Pulsing white | Starting up |
| Flashing white | Pairing mode |
| White and pink flashing repeatedly | Resetting to factory settings |
