Learn how capture LED protections help safeguard privacy when taking photos or recording videos with VIVE Eagle AI smart glasses and understand when capture functions are restricted.
The capture LED on VIVE Eagle is an important privacy feature designed to provide a visible indication when the device is capturing photos or recording videos. The capture LED helps make camera activity more apparent to people around you and is integrated into the device's capture functionality.
What is the capture LED?
VIVE Eagle includes a dedicated capture LED that is visible on the front of the frame. The capture LED is separate from the device status LED and is specifically associated with photo and video capture functions.
The capture LED is designed to let others know when the glasses are being used to take photos or record videos.
How capture LED protections work
To help protect privacy, VIVE Eagle continuously checks the state of the capture LED when you use camera features. If the device determines that the capture LED is covered, camera capture is restricted.
This protection applies to both:
- Taking photos
- Recording videos
When photo capture is blocked
You cannot take photos if either of the following conditions is true:
- The capture LED is covered.
- The glasses are not being worn.
Whether you start a photo using a voice command or the capture button, VIVE Eagle requires the capture LED to remain unobstructed and the glasses to be worn before the photo can be captured.
When video recording is blocked
You cannot record videos if either of the following conditions is true:
- The capture LED is covered.
- The glasses are not being worn.
These protections apply regardless of whether recording is started with a voice command or by long-pressing the capture button.
Why these protections are important
The capture LED protections are intended to support responsible use of VIVE Eagle in public and private environments. By requiring the capture LED to remain visible and by restricting capture when the glasses are not worn, the device helps increase awareness when camera functions are being used.
If camera functions are not working
If you are unable to take a photo or start a video recording, check the following:
- Make sure the area around the camera and capture LED is not blocked.
- Ensure you are wearing the glasses correctly.
- Try the capture action again using the capture button or a supported voice command.
If the capture LED is obstructed or the glasses are not being worn, VIVE Eagle will prevent photo and video capture until those conditions are resolved.
Best practices
- Do not place stickers, covers, or accessories over the camera or capture LED.
- Keep the front of the glasses clean and free of obstructions.
- Be mindful of local laws, regulations, and privacy expectations when capturing photos or videos.
