Learn where the camera is located on VIVE Eagle AI smart glasses and understand how it supports photos, videos, and AI-powered visual features while helping protect privacy.
The camera on VIVE Eagle is built into the front of the glasses frame and is designed to capture what you see from your point of view. It supports photo capture, video recording, and AI-powered visual features that help identify objects, scenes, landmarks, and text.
Where is the camera located?
The camera is positioned on your left as you wear the glasses and is designed to capture what you see from your point of view. It sits alongside other key hardware components, including the microphones, speakers, AI button, capture button, touchpad, and capture LED.
Because the camera is integrated into the frame, it captures content from the wearer's perspective, making it well suited for hands-free photography, video recording, and visual AI interactions.
What does the camera do?
The camera enables several features on VIVE Eagle:
Capture photos
You can use the camera to take photos while wearing the glasses. Photos can be captured by:
- Pressing the capture button.
- Using a supported voice command such as "Take a photo."
Captured photos are stored on the glasses until they are imported into the VIVE Connect app.
Record videos
The camera can also record videos from your perspective. You can start recording by:
- Long pressing the capture button.
- Using a supported voice command such as "Record a video."
Video recordings are stored on the glasses and can later be imported into the VIVE Connect app.
Support AI visual features
The camera works with VIVE AI to analyze what is within its field of view. Depending on the feature being used, VIVE AI can:
- Translate visible text.
- Read text aloud.
- Identify landmarks.
- Identify artwork.
- Identify plants.
- Identify animals.
- Describe scenes and surroundings.
- Provide information about locations.
For the best results, the subject should be within the camera's field of view, well lit, and not obscured by a busy background.
Privacy protections
VIVE Eagle includes a dedicated capture LED that works with camera functions. The capture LED helps indicate when photos or videos are being captured.
To help protect the privacy of people nearby:
- Photos cannot be taken if the capture LED is covered.
- Videos cannot be recorded if the capture LED is covered.
- Photos and videos cannot be captured when the glasses are not being worn.
These protections are built into the device to make camera activity more visible to people around you.
When is the camera active?
The camera is not continuously recording. By default, it is only active when a camera-related feature is being used, such as:
- Taking a photo.
- Recording a video.
- Using a visual AI feature that analyzes what you are looking at.
When not performing these functions, the camera remains inactive.
Tips for better results
To help the camera and AI-powered visual features work effectively:
- Keep the camera area clean and free of dirt or smudges.
- Ensure the subject is clearly visible.
- Use adequate lighting whenever possible.
- Avoid blocking the camera while wearing the glasses.
