The capture button is a dedicated hardware control on VIVE Eagle that lets you quickly capture photos and videos directly from the smart glasses without opening the VIVE Connect app. It is located on the right temple of the glasses near the camera system.
Where is the capture button?
The capture button is located on the right temple of VIVE Eagle. It works together with the camera and capture LED to support media capture while helping protect the privacy of people around you.
What can you do with the capture button?
You can use the capture button to:
- Take photos from your point of view.
- Start video recordings.
- Stop an ongoing video recording.
The capture button allows you to use camera functions directly on VIVE Eagle, even when the glasses are not actively connected to VIVE Connect. Imported media can be accessed later through the VIVE Connect app.

Take a photo
Press the capture button once to take a photo. When a photo is successfully captured, the status LED blinks once.
Start recording a video
Press and hold the capture button for approximately two seconds to start recording a video. While video recording is in progress, the status LED remains solid white.
Stop recording a video
While recording, press the capture button again to stop the recording.
Privacy protection and the capture LED
VIVE Eagle includes a built-in capture LED that helps indicate when the camera is being used. The capture LED is designed to let nearby people know when photos or videos are being captured.
To help protect privacy:
- Photos cannot be taken if the capture LED is covered.
- Videos cannot be recorded if the capture LED is covered.
- Media capture is unavailable when the glasses are not being worn.
If either condition is detected, VIVE Eagle prevents photo and video capture.
Tips for using the capture button
- Make sure the camera view is unobstructed before capturing media.
- For indoor photos and videos, flicker reduction settings in VIVE Connect can help improve image quality under artificial lighting.
- Transfer media to your phone regularly through VIVE Connect to keep storage available for future captures.
Note
The capture button also triggers a factory reset when pressed 5 times within 2 seconds. Avoid rapid repeated presses to prevent an accidental reset.
