Learn how to customize AI button actions, assign AI features, and create custom shortcuts on VIVE Eagle AI smart glasses using the VIVE Connect companion app.
The AI button on VIVE Eagle provides quick access to AI-powered features and shortcuts. You can customize what happens when you press the AI button once or twice, making it easier to access your most frequently used tools without using voice commands or opening the app.
Before you begin
Before changing AI button actions, make sure:
- VIVE Eagle is paired with your phone.
- VIVE Eagle is connected to the VIVE Connect app.
- Bluetooth is enabled on your phone.
How to customize AI button actions
- Connect VIVE Eagle to VIVE Connect.
- Open VIVE Connect.
- Go to Settings > Gestures > AI button.
- Select either Press once or Press twice.
- Choose the action you want to assign.
Changes take effect immediately after you select a new action.
Available AI button actions
You can assign different AI-powered features to the AI button.
Wake VIVE AI
Press the AI button to activate VIVE AI and start an interaction.
Voice recording
Start recording a voice note that can later be transcribed and summarized using VIVE AI Notes. Press the assigned button gesture again to stop recording.
Visual Translation
Translate text that you're viewing and hear a translated summary through the glasses.
Read Out Loud
Have VIVE AI read visible text aloud. The text must be in the currently selected VIVE AI language.
Scene Description
Get a description and key details about the scene in front of you.
Landmarks
Identify and learn more about landmarks or structures you are viewing.
Location Reviews
View information about a location, including its rating and reviews.
Artwork Recognition
Identify artwork and receive additional information about it.
Plant Identification
Identify plants, flowers, and fruits in your surroundings.
Animal Identification
Identify animals and insects that you are viewing.
Recipes
Receive recipe suggestions based on ingredients visible to the camera.
Latest News
Get a summary of news relevant to your region.
Wake Up Your Phone Assistant
Launch your phone's assistant, such as Gemini or Siri, instead of VIVE AI.
Create a custom AI button action
Custom actions allow you to save a prompt and launch it quickly using the AI button.
Create a custom action
- Connect VIVE Eagle to VIVE Connect.
- Go to Settings > Gestures > AI button.
- Select Press once or Press twice.
- Select Custom.
- Create a new action.
- Enter:
- A name for the action.
- Instructions describing what you want VIVE AI to do.
- Save the action.
Once saved, the custom action can be assigned to the AI button and launched with a single button press or double press.
Edit or delete a custom action
If you want to update or remove an existing custom action:
- Connect VIVE Eagle to VIVE Connect.
- Go to Settings > Gestures > AI button.
- Select Custom.
- Choose the saved action.
- Select View details.
- Edit the action and save your changes, or delete the action.
Create an AI button action from an AI chat
You can turn a previous VIVE AI chat into a reusable AI button shortcut.
- Open VIVE Connect.
- On the VIVE AI screen, tap AI chats.
- Open the chat you want to reuse.
- Tap the three-dot menu.
- Select Assign to AI button.
- Enter a name and review the action details.
- Assign the action to the AI button or save it for later use.
Tips for choosing AI button actions
- Assign frequently used features such as Visual Translation or Voice Recording for faster access.
- Use custom actions to automate recurring AI requests.
- Configure different actions for single press and double press to access multiple features quickly.
- Review and update custom actions as your usage needs change.
