Learn how to identify system error and overheating LED alerts on VIVE Eagle AI smart glasses and understand the actions to take when these warning indicators appear.
If VIVE Eagle detects a system problem or becomes too hot during use, the status LED provides a visual warning to help you identify the issue and take appropriate action. Understanding these indicators can help you respond quickly and keep your smart glasses operating normally.
How to identify an error or overheating warning
The status LED is located on the inner right side of the glasses and communicates different device conditions through colors and blink patterns.
When the status LED:
- Blinks red twice, it indicates one of the following:
- A system error
- The glasses are overheating
Because the same LED pattern is used for both conditions, additional context may help determine whether the warning is related to temperature or another system issue.
What to do if the glasses are overheating
If the red double-blink warning appears while the glasses feel unusually warm:
- Stop using the glasses temporarily.
- Move to a cooler environment if you are in direct sunlight or a hot location.
- Allow the glasses to cool naturally before continuing to use them.
- Avoid charging the glasses until the temperature returns to normal.
To help prevent overheating:
- Do not store the glasses in environments with extreme temperatures.
- Keep the device dry and avoid exposing it to excessive heat.
- Use the glasses within normal environmental conditions and avoid leaving them in enclosed hot spaces, such as parked vehicles. This recommendation is consistent with the device care guidance that advises against extreme temperature exposure.
What to do if a system error occurs
If the status LED blinks red twice and the glasses are not unusually warm, a system error may have occurred.
Try the following steps:
Restart the glasses
A restart can resolve temporary issues.
- Turn the glasses off by pressing and holding the AI button for five seconds.
- Turn them back on by pressing and holding the AI button for two seconds.
Force restart the glasses
If the glasses are unresponsive:
- Press and hold the AI button for approximately 12 seconds to force a restart.
Submit feedback and diagnostic logs
If the issue continues after restarting:
- Open the VIVE Connect app.
- Go to Settings, and then tap Feedback.
- Describe the issue in detail.
- Include diagnostic logs when prompted. HTC strongly recommends including logs when reporting device problems because they help identify the cause of the issue.
When the warning continues to appear
If the status LED repeatedly shows the error or overheating warning after the glasses have cooled down and been restarted:
- Verify that the device firmware is up to date using VIVE Connect.
- Restart both the glasses and your phone.
- Submit feedback with logs through VIVE Connect for further investigation.
