Visual Translation helps you understand foreign-language text by translating what you are looking at through your VIVE Eagle smart glasses. Whether you're traveling, reading signs, menus, product labels, or printed documents, Visual Translation can provide an audible translated result without requiring you to type or manually enter text.
What is Visual Translation?
Visual Translation is an AI-powered feature on VIVE Eagle that analyzes text within the camera's view and provides an audible translated result. VIVE Eagle includes visual language assistance capabilities designed to translate text simply by looking at it.
You can activate translation in several ways:
- Use the voice command "Translate this" while looking at the text you want translated.
- Assign Visual translation to the AI button and start translation with a button press.
When Visual Translation is used through the AI button, VIVE AI reads out a translated summary of the text you are viewing.
Before you use Visual Translation
For AI-powered voice commands and visual assistance features, make sure:
- Your phone is connected to the internet.
- VIVE Eagle is connected to the VIVE Connect app.
- The text you want translated is clearly visible within the camera's field of view.
- The area has adequate lighting and the background is not cluttered with patterns or text.
These conditions help VIVE AI accurately identify and process the text being viewed.
Translate text with a voice command
- Wear your VIVE Eagle glasses.
- Look directly at the text you want translated.
- Wake VIVE AI using your configured wake word.
- Say "Translate this."
- Wait while VIVE AI analyzes the text and provides a translated result.
This method is useful when you want hands-free access to translations while walking, commuting, or exploring unfamiliar environments.
Use the AI button for quicker access
You can configure the AI button to launch Visual Translation directly.
To assign Visual Translation to the AI button:
- Connect VIVE Eagle to VIVE Connect.
- Open the AI button settings.
- Select the action for a single press or double press.
- Choose Visual translation.
Once configured, pressing the AI button with the assigned gesture starts Visual Translation without requiring a voice command.
Set your preferred language
Visual Translation works together with VIVE AI language settings.
To change the VIVE AI language:
- Connect VIVE Eagle to VIVE Connect.
- Open Settings > VIVE AI > Language.
- Select your preferred language.
- Tap Set.
Changing the VIVE AI language also changes the language used by the VIVE Connect app.

For the best experience:
- Position the text so it is clearly visible in front of you.
- Ensure there is enough lighting for the camera to capture the text accurately.
- Avoid cluttered backgrounds that may interfere with text recognition.
- Keep VIVE Eagle connected to VIVE Connect when using AI-powered visual features.

If you want VIVE Eagle to read text without translating it, use the Read this voice command or the Read out loud AI button action. The Read out loud feature reads text in the same language as your configured VIVE AI language.
