Learn how to troubleshoot weather requests that are not working on VIVE Eagle AI smart glasses when connected to VIVE Connect, including location permission requirements for weather-related voice commands.
If VIVE AI on your VIVE Eagle does not provide weather information when you ask questions such as "What's the weather today?" or "How's the weather?", the issue is often related to location permissions on your phone. Weather requests require access to location data so the assistant can determine local weather conditions.
Symptoms
You may experience one or more of the following:
- VIVE AI does not answer weather-related questions.
- Weather requests return an unexpected response.
- Other VIVE AI features work normally, but weather information is unavailable.
- Commands such as "What's the weather today?" or "How's the weather?" do not provide weather conditions.
Before you begin
Make sure that:
- Your VIVE Eagle is connected to the VIVE Connect app.
- Your phone has an active internet connection.
- You are using a supported weather voice command.
Examples of supported weather commands include:
- "Hey VIVE, what's the weather today?"
- "Hey VIVE, how's the weather?"
Fix weather requests on iPhone
If you are using an iPhone and VIVE AI cannot answer weather-related questions, check the location permissions for Siri:
- Open Settings on your iPhone.
- Tap Privacy & Security.
- Tap Location Services.
- Find and tap Siri.
- Make sure While Using the App is selected.
- Make sure Precise Location is turned on.
After updating the settings, try asking VIVE AI for the weather again.
Fix weather requests on Android
If you are using an Android phone and VIVE AI cannot answer weather-related questions, check the location permissions for the Google app:
- Press and hold the Google app icon.
- Tap App info (or the App info icon).
- Tap Permissions.
- Tap Location.
- Make sure Allow all the time or Allow only while using the app is selected.
- Make sure Use precise location is turned on.
After updating the settings, try asking VIVE AI for the weather again.
Test the weather feature
After confirming the location settings, say one of the following:
- "Hey VIVE, what's the weather today?"
- "Hey VIVE, how's the weather?"
If the request succeeds, VIVE AI should provide current weather information based on your location.
If weather requests still do not work
If weather information is still unavailable:
- Verify that your phone can access the internet.
- Confirm that VIVE Eagle is connected to VIVE Connect.
- Try again from a location with a stronger network connection.
- Restart your phone and reconnect VIVE Eagle to VIVE Connect. The VIVE Eagle user guide recommends restarting your phone if voice commands are not responding correctly.
