Learn how to troubleshoot music playback issues on VIVE Eagle AI smart glasses when music does not play, voice commands fail, or audio controls do not work as expected with supported mobile music apps.
If music does not play on your VIVE Eagle, voice commands are not working, or media controls are unresponsive, the issue is usually related to music app configuration, phone assistant integration, Bluetooth settings, or volume synchronization. Follow the troubleshooting steps below to restore music playback.
Symptoms
You may experience one or more of the following:
- Saying "Hey VIVE, play music" does not start music playback.
- Music playback commands are ignored.
- Next track, previous track, or pause commands do not work.
- Music volume remains low even after adjusting it.
- Touchpad media controls do not respond.
- Audio plays through the phone instead of VIVE Eagle.
Before you begin
Verify the following:
- VIVE Eagle is powered on.
- VIVE Eagle is connected to your phone through VIVE Connect.
- Bluetooth is enabled on your phone.
- Your phone has an active internet connection if you are using AI voice commands.
- A supported music app is installed on your phone.
Check your music app settings on Android
Voice-controlled music playback on Android depends on integration with Gemini and a supported music service.
- Open the Gemini app on your phone.
- Tap your account avatar.
- Tap Apps (or Personal Intelligence > Connected Apps).
- Verify that a supported music service, such as Spotify or YouTube Music, is enabled.
If no music service is enabled, VIVE AI may not be able to start music playback.
Register your preferred music service
After enabling a music service, register it with VIVE AI.
- Connect VIVE Eagle to VIVE Connect.
- Say:
"Hey VIVE, play music on [music app]"
For example:
"Hey VIVE, play music on Spotify"
After the initial setup, you can use:
"Hey VIVE, play music"
to start playback with the configured service.
Check Samsung phone compatibility
If you use a Samsung phone and music voice commands are not working correctly:
- Disable Bixby on your phone.
- Install Gemini if it is not already installed.
- Configure Gemini and media app integration before using music playback voice commands.
Check Apple Music on iPhone
On iPhone, music playback requires Apple Music to be installed and initialized.
- Verify that Apple Music is installed.
- Launch Apple Music.
- Complete any first-time setup screens until you reach the app home screen.
You do not need an Apple Music subscription to use music playback commands with VIVE Eagle.
Verify VIVE Eagle is connected
Music playback and media controls depend on an active connection between VIVE Eagle and VIVE Connect.
- Turn on VIVE Eagle.
- Wait for the status LED to indicate readiness.
- Open VIVE Connect.
- Confirm that the glasses connect successfully.
If the connection is lost, music commands and touchpad controls may not function properly.
Fix low volume or volume control issues
If the volume remains too low even after using voice commands or touchpad gestures:
Android devices
- Open your phone's Bluetooth settings.
- Look for Device volume sync or Media volume sync.
- Turn the setting on.
If the setting is unavailable or does not resolve the issue, adjust the volume directly using your phone's volume controls.
Test touchpad media controls
VIVE Eagle supports the following media playback gestures:
| Gesture | Action |
| Tap once | Play or pause |
| Double tap | Next track |
| Triple tap | Previous track |
| Swipe forward | Volume up |
| Swipe backward | Volume down |
If these gestures do not work, verify that music is actively playing from the connected phone and that VIVE Eagle remains connected to VIVE Connect.

Try one of the following commands:
Start playback
- "Hey VIVE, play music"
- "Hey VIVE, play the music"

Important notes
- Voice command support depends on how well the music app integrates with Gemini or Siri.
- Some apps may not support all media voice control commands.
- Music playback functionality relies on your phone assistant and supported media services.
