Learn how to grant the permissions required for VIVE Eagle AI glasses and the VIVE Connect companion app, including Bluetooth, location, contacts, and other permissions needed for setup, connectivity, AI features, and calling functions on supported Android and iPhone devices.
To use all features on your VIVE Eagle smart glasses, you'll need to grant certain permissions to the VIVE Connect app during setup. These permissions help enable pairing, AI-powered experiences, media transfers, voice features, and phone integrations.
If you skip a permission during setup, you can grant it later in your phone's settings. Some VIVE Eagle features may be unavailable until the required permission is enabled.
Why permissions are required
VIVE Eagle works together with the VIVE Connect app on your phone. Depending on the feature you use, the app may require permission to:
- Connect to your glasses using Bluetooth
- Discover and reconnect to nearby devices
- Access location-related services required by certain Android connectivity features
- Import photos and videos from your glasses
- Access contacts for caller identification and calling features
- Enable AI-powered features that rely on phone connectivity and supported assistants
- Help locate your glasses when they are nearby and connected to your phone

During first-time setup, VIVE Connect guides you through the required permissions.

- Complete the account sign-in and pairing process.
- When you reach the permissions screen, review the requested permissions.
- Tap Grant, then tap Next and follow the on-screen prompts to approve permissions.

Common permissions
The permissions requested may vary depending on your phone and operating system version.
Bluetooth
Bluetooth permission is required to:
- Pair VIVE Eagle with your phone
- Reconnect automatically after pairing
- Transfer data between VIVE Eagle and VIVE Connect
- Use connected AI features and media management tools
Location
Some Android devices require location-related permissions and services for Bluetooth discovery and connectivity.
Location permissions may also help support:
- Device pairing
- Media import features
- Finding and reconnecting to your glasses on certain Android devices
Contacts and call-related permissions
If you want VIVE Eagle to announce caller names or work with calling features, you must allow access to contacts and related call information.
Without these permissions:
- Caller names may not be announced.
- Contact-based calling features may not function correctly.
Media permissions
Media permissions allow VIVE Connect to:
- Save imported photos and videos
- Access media stored within the app
- Share captured content from VIVE Eagle to other apps or services
Granting contact permissions for caller announcements
Caller announcements require additional permission configuration.

Android troubleshooting for permission-related connectivity issues
If you experience Wi-Fi import errors or connectivity issues when importing media, verify the following Android settings:
Enable location services
- Go to Settings > Location > Location services.
- Turn on:
- Location Accuracy
- Wi-Fi scanning
- Bluetooth scanning
If these settings are already enabled, try turning them off and back on again.
Verify VIVE Connect location permissions
- Open Settings > Location > App location permissions.
- Select VIVE Connect.
- Choose Allow all the time.
If this permission is already selected, switch to Don't allow, then re-enable Allow all the time.
Updating permissions after setup
If you previously denied a permission:
Android
- Open Settings.
- Go to Apps.
- Select VIVE Connect.
- Open Permissions.
- Enable the permissions required for the feature you want to use.
iPhone
- Open Settings.
- Tap Apps > VIVE Connect.
- Review and enable the permissions you want the app to use.
If a feature isn't working
If a VIVE Eagle feature is unavailable, verify that:
- Bluetooth is enabled on your phone.
- All required app permissions have been granted.
- VIVE Eagle is paired and connected to VIVE Connect.
- Your phone's operating system settings have not restricted permissions after setup.
You can also disconnect and reconnect the glasses, then review the app permissions again to ensure all required access has been granted.
